A Playful Experiment by the Museum of the Metaverse
Reverse Engineering Curatorial Bullshit
❓ What if curatorial text were an automatic image generator?
❓ What if reading the same words led everyone to imagine the same form?
The Museum of the Metaverse launches a playful experiment.
A serious game.
An exhibition that is also a laboratory.
The Concept
Each participant will receive:
-
One curatorial text
-
No images
-
No references
-
No explanation
The task is simple:
Create an artwork based solely on that text.
Not to illustrate it.
Not to explain it.
But to translate it.
What Are We Testing?
-
Does curatorial language generate implicit forms?
-
Does it suggest a spatial structure?
-
Does it already contain a hidden aesthetic?
-
Is it descriptive or directive?
-
Is it depth — or a projection surface?
Each artwork becomes data.
Each similarity becomes interesting.
Each divergence becomes meaningful.
Open Medium
Accepted formats include:
-
Painting
-
Drawing
-
Installation
-
Digital art
-
AI-generated images and videos
-
3D models
-
Immersive environments
-
NFTs
-
Any other expressive form
The text may function as:
-
Inspiration
-
A conceptual structure
-
A direct prompt (including for AI generators)
-
A critical counter-position
Freedom is part of the experiment.
The Rules of the Game
To preserve the integrity of the project:
-
Do not consult other participants during the process.
-
Do not search for the origin of the text.
-
Do not assume an “original artwork” exists.
-
Do not attempt to decode the curator’s intention.
This is not a test of intelligence.
It is a test of translation.
Try It Now
Before applying, ask yourself:
-
What shape does a sentence have?
-
What color is a theory?
-
What space does an abstract word occupy?
If you already have a mental image, you’re ready.
Human vs AI
The works will be presented in three sections:
-
Human Translations
-
Hybrid Processes
-
Algorithmic Translations
During the public presentation, we will examine:
-
Visual similarities
-
Interpretative convergence
-
Differences between human and AI production
-
Recurring aesthetic clichés
With lightness.
With irony.
With critical awareness.
Why in the Metaverse?
Because here:
-
Materiality can be simulated.
-
AI is native.
-
Humans and algorithms coexist.
-
Language builds space.
The metaverse is the ideal testing ground for this experiment.
Why Is It Fun?
Because we might discover that:
-
AI is more literal than we are.
-
We are more predictable than AI.
-
“Curatorial language” always produces the same visual fog.
-
Or maybe it doesn’t.
🚀 Open Call for Artists
The Museum of the Metaverse invites:
-
Visual artists
-
Digital creators
-
AI experimenters
-
Conceptual hackers
-
Theorists with a sense of humor
We are not looking for perfect artworks.
We are looking for reactions.
If you want to test — or sabotage — curatorial language,
this is your opportunity.
